Located in northern Italy, on the border with France and Switzerland, expands the fascinating region of Piedmont, where the small artisanal and rural activities carry on the ancient local traditions, alongside the many industrial assets existing. Renowned for the beauty of its natural landscape, rolling hills and many lakes, this land produces one of the most refined Italian delicacies, such as Barolo red wine and Tartufo Bianco from Alba.

Enveloped by the Alps at North and by the valley of Po River at South, this land boasts the perfect climate for the cultivation of vineyards also because of the proximity to Mar Mediterraneo. The incomparable elegance of Piemonte is mirrored not only in its natural beauties, but also in the infinite architectural gems, among ancient palaces, fortresses and castles. Whether you’re walking along the shores of Lago Maggiore or rather getting lost amidst the beautiful rues of Torino, you will be surrounded by a romantic atmosphere in both cases.

What to See

Torino –  Praised for its perfect geographical position, the most beautiful in the whole world according to well-known architect Le Corbusier, the metropolitan area of Torino lies in a valley at the center of a mountain amphitheatre. Po River runs through the city, standing almost as a watershed between hilly and flat side. A stone’s throw away, you can reach the Basilica of Superga, perched on the namesake hill. From here, the view over the rooftops and the iconic Mole Antonelliana is unforgettable.

Reggia di Venaria –  Close to Torino, stands the superb Reggia di Venaria, part of UNESCO heritage from 1997. A masterpiece of architecture and landscape, this massive monument is a “court for contemporaries” open to public. Some of the highest expressions of Baroque art are preserved in here. Moreover, huge gardens alla francese enhance the exteriors and connect the ancient times to modernity.

Cittadella di Alessandria – This historical site, one of the greatest monuments in Europe, is a defensive system dating back to XVIII century. Seen from above, Cittadella di Alessandria features a beautiful six-pointed star-like plant. The building has been perfectly preserved through time, and now is open to public and occasionally hosts cultural events of various kinds.

Lago Maggiore and Isole Borromee – Among the most fascinating attractions of this region, the multiple lakes, nestled between mountains and valleys, deserve a special attention. Notably, Lago Maggiore, the second largest lake in Italy, is a pure gift of nature. On its shores, lies a proliferation of artistic gems: villas, gardens, palaces and more. While visiting the Lago, you cannot miss a boat tour to Isole Borromee, a small archipelago which takes its name from the noble Borromeo family. Discover the ancient family mansions dating back to the XVII on Isola Madre and Isola Bella.

Langhe – Between the provinces of Cuneo and Asti, rolling hills expands widely within a natural framework of rivers. This region, located in the South of Piemonte, is renowned to produce wines and truffles. Dotted with vineyards, hazelnut groves and ancient villages, this land attracts many tourists especially during Fall, the season of the exquisite Tartufo Bianco from Alba.

Pioneers of Design – Piemonte is the birthplace of some of the best design studios and brands, including the renowned Gufram, creator of beautiful and unconventional interior pieces.
