Ken Scott, often referred to as the “fashion gardener,” left an indelible mark on the worlds of fashion and design with his daring prints and vibrant compositions. Now, Carpet Edition brings his artistic legacy into interior décor through a striking new collection of rugs inspired by his archives. Created in collaboration with Mantero Seta, this collection reinterprets Scott’s bold aesthetic using a masterful blend of textures, materials, and techniques. By combining premium New Zealand wool, linen, and Tencel with intricate hand-tufting and three-dimensional carving, the collection captures the essence of Scott’s work, transforming his signature florals and abstract forms into timeless decorative pieces for contemporary interiors.

The Ken Scott rug collection draws inspiration from the designer’s archives. How did you translate his world of colors, florals, and abstract forms into decorative interior pieces?
We worked closely with Mantero Seta—who acquired the Ken Scott brand in 2019—to develop the concept for this collection. The process began with an in-depth study of Ken Scott’s archives, selecting floral motifs, geometric patterns, and animal prints that best embody his unmistakable aesthetic while respecting the possibilities and limitations of textile design. Transforming his visual language into rugs, sculpted floral designs, and tapestries required meticulous attention to detail—from material selection to specialized weaving techniques and varying pile heights. The ultimate goal was to bring movement and dynamism to each piece in the collection.
What materials and production techniques did you choose for these rugs, and how do they reflect Ken Scott’s design philosophy and attention to detail?
To faithfully reproduce the vibrancy of his colors, the richness of textures, and the precision of forms, we selected premium materials such as New Zealand Wool, Hardtwist, Linen, and Tencel. These are crafted using hand-tufting techniques across multiple levels.
To achieve a three-dimensional effect, we combined various techniques—including velvet, bouclé, shaggy, and 3D carving—carefully layering them and playing with different pile heights to enhance depth and dynamism.

You’ve collaborated with many renowned designers. What is your process for selecting partnerships that best represent Carpet Edition’s vision?
For us, every collaboration is born from a shared vision and a deep creative synergy, built through open and ongoing dialogue. We work with designers and artists who can interpret our identity and translate it into unique projects while maintaining their own distinctive style. The synergies we seek go beyond design and extend into other creative fields, such as fashion—exemplified by the Ken Scott collection—and the art world, with which we have long cultivated a meaningful connection.
