Colapesce Code Decorative Plate #2

Finely painted by hand, this decorative plate in glazed red clay belongs to the Colapesce Collection. The series is inspired by a Sicilian legend narrating about a half-human, half-fish creature who is said to have sacrificed his life by replacing one of the columns sustaining the island that was about to crack. A colorful motif of light-blue fish tails ("code" in Italian) adorns the orange band outlining the rim and enclosing the yellow central section enlivened by blue details.
