The Interview

How did you first become involved in the world of design? Tell us your story.

After completing a business degree, I embarked on a six-year global adventure, embracing roles that ranged from snowboarding in Canada and France to event management at London's Sanderson Hotel, and even hosting celebrities on private jets. These diverse experiences enriched my perspective and ignited an interest in design and a passion for aesthetics. Upon returning to Australia, I sought a creative environment that resonated with my background, and reached out to the Australian interior design firm Hecker Guthrie, securing an administration position. Immersed in this design-centric setting, my passion flourished. This set me on a trajectory that eventually led to setting up my namesake studio in 2014 and honing a unique design signature. I take annual buying trips around the globe, including to Italy, New York and Stockholm, to find inspiration and to bring collections of found pieces back to my clients in Melbourne and Sydney; I’m always collecting, cataloguing, and then drawing on global influences.

When designing a room, what is the most crucial aspect for you? Talk us through your design process.

We strive to create a distinctive response to each space—one that seamlessly blends context, narrative, personal style, and functionality. These elements become the foundation of every interior design project, and for our studio, that’s where the true magic happens. We embrace the unique qualities of our clients' spaces and their aspirations for them. Through conversation and discovery, we uncover key furniture, lighting, art, or styling pieces that naturally emerge as the focal points—the guiding stars around which everything else orbits. By allowing this organic creative evolution to unfold and drawing from the vast mental catalogue of inspiration shared by myself and the talented women at Simone Haag, we ensure that every project we curate is unique.

How would you define your signature style, and how is it reflected in your projects?

Warm and layered spaces and curated approach characterise our design signature — Australian modernism with a nod to mid-century design and a global outlook. We blend contemporary aesthetics with a deep sense of storytelling, making our interiors feel both luxurious and lived-in. Vintage pieces as well as Art and objects play a key role in our spaces, we love abstract and textural works.
