Galatea Painting

A romantic tragedy of Greek mythology, Galatea was one of the 50 Nereids, daughters of Nereus and Doris. The myth narrates that Galatea was in love with the young Acis, but was also madly loved by the Cyclops Polyphemus, who crushed Acis to death with a boulder when he discovered the pair together.
