When an aristocratic Patrician Villa is brought back to its original splendor by the savant taste of a contemporary Italian connoisseur the result is the striking Byblos Art Hotel. If you are planning a trip in the Italian region of Veneto, just don't miss the opportunity to live a neo-baroque rural experience among past, present and future at the Byblos Art Hotel.
Art, design, hospitality and fashion merge together at the splendid fifteenth century ancient Villa Amistà, in the heart of the Valpolicella area, just a few kilometers away from the center of the beautiful city of Verona.
The large building featuring a 15th century facade by architect Michele Sanmicheli (1489-1559) had been abandoned for some time before being carefully renovated thanks to Dino Facchini’s and his family’s passion for art.
The meticulous restoration of the architecture and paintwork, in collaboration with the well-known Italian architect and designer Alessandro Mendini, and the careful choice of interior furnishings and works of art, has transformed this Venetian Villa into a unique museum of contemporary art and design.
Inside Byblos Art Hotel guests are welcomed by a large hall dominated by a Venetian chandelier and other rooms with elaborate ceiling decorations and murals. The hotel offers sixty rooms and suites, with different features and dimensions, including a presidential suite and some artistic suites carefully designed with a particular care for the color system that was borrowed from Byblos prét à porter collections, in order to create a contemporary update of the 16th -18th century iconography with inspiration from the typical paintings of the Veneto region.
Lamps and carefully selected famous design objects decor the hotel interiors, in order to create a real collection, starting from the flatware by Gio Ponti, to works of art by Eero Saarinen, Aldo Rossi, Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Gaetano Pesce, Patricia Urquiola, Harrison & Gil, Marcel Wanders, Ettore Sottsass, Luca Sacchetti. Like in a museum, every object is completed by a precise caption; not only halls and common rooms, but also guests rooms are furnished with a collection of contemporary art.
The hotel gourmet restaurant “Atelier”, that is also open to the public, offers creative cuisine exploiting traditional specialties as well as international dishes; Peter’s Bar is a pleasant and refined setting dedicated to the American artist Peter Halley, where clients can enjoy cocktails, aperitifs and long drinks accompanied by music and melodies.
