Dazzling white walls and towers of the Masseria Le Mandorle look onto the village of Ugento, while the silvery olive groves descend towards the sea. This chic boutique hotel is away from the metropolitan commotion and forms a midpoint between some of the finest beaches and charming villages. Immerse yourself into the authentic side of Apulia that sets a pace for your next holiday.
Along the magnificent coastline is the lesser known Salento area in the beautiful region of Apulia, Italy. A stone’s throw away from the sandy beaches, historical castles and local vineyards, Ugento is a postcard perfect village. Masseria Le Mandorle, the sister property of Castello di Ugento is a new icon of high-end hospitality. The property was an ancient farmhouse surrounded by blossoming almond trees or mandorle as they call it in Italian.
Co-founders Massimo Fasanella d’Amore and Diana E. Bianchi have left no stone unturned in making Masseria Le Mandorle an experience you won’t find anywhere else. This ancient farmhouse was converted into a tasteful boutique hotel which is a home away from home. The twelve country-style rooms offer modern tranquility combined to Mediterranean comfort.
Each room is bright and airy, following the signature creamy cappuccino and soft almond color palette. The cool stone floors and walk-in monsoon showers are adorned with artisanal wrought iron mirrors. Paying attention to detail, the bed linens are Apulian custom made, while country style bedside tables together with lamps and vintage chairs add an eclectic touch.
Additionally, some of the sleek suites distinguish themselves from the others. The Tramonto suite has an enchanting view over the orchards and olive groves towards the Ionian coast, perfect for an aperitif when the sun sets over the sea. On the first floor of the main building is La Salentina, a luxurious suite that opens to a terrace overlooking the courtyard, while the bathroom has a honey-colored stone monsoon jet.
Upon entering the courtyard, you are invited to take a dip in the swimming pool. For those wishing to relax, possibly with a glass of wine and a good book, head straight to hydro massage Jacuzzi tub overlooking the remarkable Salento sunset.
The golden hours, when the sun goes down and sets in the creamy horizon, the scents of Apulian cuisine fill the air. House Chef Odette Fada wonderfully marries the philosophy of valorizing the local territory. The dining room has a charm of its own- 18th century vaulted ceiling, white lime walls, natural stone floors and rustic wooden tables. The handcrafted wrought iron lighting adds charm, like the huge fireplace where the fire crackles in winter. For those with more experimental tastes, “Il Tempo Nuovo” in the premises of Castello di Ugento offers regional cuisine with a fine-dining twist.
The force of Apulian cuisine is stronger than your willpower. Besides the glorious feasting experience, you can fully immerse yourself in the Puglia Culinary Center, located in the ancient walls of Castello di Ugento fitted with the most state-of-the-art equipment. From shopping local ingredients to ideal wine pairings, they provide a perfect experience to get acquainted to the Salento area through its fresh farm produce and seafood.
Masseria Le Mandorle is the genuine essence of Puglia, that makes it an ideal oasis for holidays with a very high Mediterranean quotient.
