Nestled along Porto Cervo's stunning emerald sea and sculpted cliffs, Romazzino offers a unique Sardinian retreat. Guests can unwind under olive and pine trees, enjoying tranquil afternoons of dolce far niente and the soothing sound of waves against rocky cliffs, making it a true home away from home. Romazzino starts the new season as a Belmond Hotel, redefyining the concept of villeggiatura since the Sixties.

Nestled along Porto Cervo's picturesque emerald sea and time-sculpted cliffs, Romazzino offers an unparalleled Sardinian experience. Guests are invited to relax beneath the shade of olive and pine trees, living prolonged afternoons of dolce far niente and enjoying a serene escape from the everyday. The soothing sound of waves against the rocky cliffs lulls visitors to sleep, making Romazzino truly a home away from home.

The unique architecture of Romazzino, designed by Michele Busiri Vici, blends seamlessly with the surrounding natural beauty, its white organic curves framed by lush landscapes. This harmonious design reflects the hotel's commitment to preserving the natural rhythms and biodiversity of Sardinia.

Romazzino presents also a first restyle by interior design and architecture studio Palomba Serafini: the firm picked pieces crafted by Sardinian artisans, such as Bam Design, Cerasarda, and Mariantonia Urru. Using local materials, the artisans have handcrafted unique creations inspired by Sardinian clothing, which features a mix of layered fabrics, vibrant colors, and white details. Additionally, leading Italian design brands like Talenti and Cassina have been selected as partners for the restyling.

As Romazzino starts the new season as a Belmond Hotel, it revives the glamorous history of Costa Smeralda, tracing its origins from the Swinging Sixties to the present day.

Aga Khan IV, an Iranian royal and the current Imam of Nizari Isma'ilis, envisioned a getaway on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. Inspired by tales from a British banker who had sailed around the region, the Aga Khan fell in love with this unspoilt stretch of coastline. In 1962, he partnered with Patrick Guinness, heir to the Guinness brewing fortune, to purchase 35 miles of land. Initially conceived as a private resort and yacht club for the international jet set, Porto Cervo quickly became a hotspot. Yet, the Aga Khan approached development responsibly, ensuring that Romazzino’s construction was in harmony with the local environment.

There is a multitude of fine sandy beaches and no one to walk on them. Green and grey mountains tumble into the sea, a carpet of purple and yellow, red and blue flowers perfume the air.

In 1970, Italian arthouse director Alberto Sordi captured the essence of Romazzino in the anthology film "The Couples," showcasing a romantic anniversary dinner gone comically awry. Seven years later, in 1977, Romazzino beach earned its place in popular culture with scenes from the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me," featuring Roger Moore. These cultural moments cemented Romazzino's status as a key, glittering destination.

Romazzino, managed by Belmond (LVHM Group) and owned by Smeralda Holding, a company indirectly controlled by Qatar Investment Authority, continues to enchant guests with its timeless charm along the same stunning coastline that captivated the Aga Khan. This storied and glamorous hotel echoes the memories of rock stars, muses, heiresses, and princes who once graced its halls. This corner of Northeastern Sardinia remains a sanctuary of elegance and relaxation, inviting guests to create their own timeless memories.
